Krysia Drury
Krysia
Drury, the London born daughter of a Polish father
and an English mother, was a fine art student at the
prestigious Camberwell School of Art in the late 60s.
Her dynamic contemporary paintings are inspired by
shapes, colours and textures found in nature, especially
of plants and flowers. Krysia's vibrant watercolours
are painted on Khadi paper which is hand made in India.
They combine chance effects with deliberate techniques.
Her powerful acrylics are painted either using flat
designs or make use of mixed media to provide energetic
textured areas.
In her work Krysia aims to convey exuberance and joy
through the use of colour composition and line. She
is inspired by the work of, amongst others, Van Gogh,
Cezanne, Bonnard, Matisse, Nolde, Howard Hogkins and
Ivon Hitchens. |
